Apart from intakes, diagnostic sessions, and EMDR-specific treatment, my in-session structure tends to be captured by three words - connect, reflect, and direct.
Connect: When a client comes in after a long week, it can be hard to jump right into interventions. I think it’s important to start with a check in to see what has been happening this week and how that’s affected them, sometimes guiding the client through a relaxation exercise if it seems like that would be beneficial.
Reflect: I usually reflect on what a client has shared and ask the client follow-up questions to encourage the client to explore further what they have shared as well.
Direct: This is where I may provide relevant information to a client about challenges he or she is facing to enhance the client’s understanding of factors impacting them, guidance in the use of new coping skills, and/or follow-up on any skills we agreed on incorporating from our previous sessions.

Sessions are held using a video platform. Services will not be held by telephone or in-person .
Clients must be in Maryland or North Carolina during all sessions
We will take a collaborative approach in setting treatment goals, and use assessments to monitor your progress. Sessions tend to be integrative of various models (CBT, motivational interviewing, ACT etc.) unless EMDR-specific treatment.
The expectation is for clients to attend weekly, or at the frequency agreed upon with the clinician, until the client and therapist agree that a reduced frequency schedule is appropriate clinically for client progress. Inconsistencies in attendance could also impact client progress and may result in a discontinuation of services.
